Ritmix blames NS for tarnishing reputation

NS is in hot soup after taking most of the blame from Virtus.Pro themselves for claims of sabotaging the reputation of their own tournament, the Ritmix RDL. NS forced RoX.KIS to abandon their game in RDL but RoX.KIS' manager, PoDoX, defended the VP captain.

Background story

RoX.KIS was in the midst of their third game against Mousesports in the loser bracket of the Ritmix RDL, a VP hosted Dota 2 tournament. The number of pauses in the first and second game caused the game to be delayed. At the same time, thousands of viewers are tuning in to Toby ‘TobiWan’ Dawson’s stream waiting for RoX.KIS to play Virtus.Pro in EMS One.

Halfway through RoX.KIS’ game against Mousesports, VP captain, Yaroslav ‘NS’ Kuznetsov lost his patience and pulled the plug on RoX.KIS demanding them to abandon their deciding game against Mousesports or risk starting EMS Group D with a default loss. The choice was clear, it is better to lose in a smaller league rather than missing out on a chance to attend a big LAN event in Poland.

RoX.KIS placed second in the group and qualified to the LAN event in Poland, losing only to Virtus.Pro.

Aftermath

NS responded to the situation stating that rules are rules. “The issue of abiding the rules should not even be questioned”, said NS.

“If E-sports wants to grow, rules have to be treated like it is the law”, NS added.

One of RDL organizers, gurkie was not taking NS’ side, claiming that the captain of VP Dota 2 squad inadvertently tarnished the reputation of the organization he is a part of. Gurkie gave an analogy and compared Dota 2 to football in which there are unsung “Fair play” rules for cases that may be controversial.

Gurkie stated that waiting for their opponents is NS’ moral duty and considering he forced the default loss, he did not understand that situation at hand (Opponent was late because they were playing in VP League) and he should make more matured decisions in the future.

“I don’t want to offend him or any player of the team, but this incident hurts the image of our organization and I hope that management will make a right decision on this issue”, said Gurkie.

Manager of RoX.KIS, Denis 'PoDoX' Pestrecov, then released a statement stating that the RDL committee assured that the time would not clash and the match could have been postponed to a later date during the scheduling period. PoDoX chose to believe the promises and not postpone the game, and therefore, the big time clash occurred.

PoDoX said, “NS had every right to not wait for their opponents but he was made scapegoat of the RDL admins who said there would not be any problems with the game time”.

At the end of his statement, PoDoX demanded that the organizers of RDL:

1. Publicly apologize to their fans
2. Revoke the tech lose decision
3. Make a decision on a possible rematch between the two teams

In an unrelated note, Team Empire tweeted, “The decision of Virtus.pro makes us think about the need of the participation in the league.”

-Update-

VP has agreed to allow a reload of the deciding game two days ago after much technical testing. Mouz won the game and will face NTH in the next stage of the Loser Bracket.

RoX.KIS will be leaving Ritmix without any bad blood.
