Gambit Gaming loses to CJ Frost in Rematch of Katowice

Frost and Blaze eliminate all European teams from IEM World Championships leaving an all Korean Final. Gambit Gaming's first IEM without title.

Quarter Finals

The start of the day we had CJ Entus Frost match up against Millenium. Millenium was ready to prove themselves as a team that was confidently playing at a high level. Many were shocked to see just how well Millenium matched against the fearsome CJ Frost. Early game the clear advantage was in their favor. With Tabzz on equal footing against Rapidstar and Angush defeating Shy in lane surely surprised many people. Although Frost eventually won 2-0 against Millenium it was clearly not easy. The defeat for Millenium came with nothing more than inexperiance against Frosts amazing split pushes, giving Frost the upper hand once laning phase ended. Expect Millenium to be a strong contending team in the near future, it is not everyday you can confidently say that a non-LCS team can stand toe to toe with one of the worlds best teams.

Once Frosts match ended, the sister team CJ Entus Blaze stepped onto the fields of justice against the surprising Anexis. Anexis looked to be one of the stronger European teams especially after managing to steal a game away from Group B winners SKT T1. However their fate unfortunately was not meant to proceed any further than the quarterfinals. Blaze proved to be to much for Anexis to handle as they were manhandled completely, eventually giving Blaze a spot in the semifinals.

With CJ Frost winning in a hard fought game against Millenium, CJ Frost looked to face Gambit Gaming for a rematch of IEM Katowice. CJ Blaze would also move forward to face off another Korean rival in SKT T1 in the semifinals.

Semi-Finals

With the stage for the semi finals set, Europes last hope lied with Russian monsters Gambit Gaming against CJ Entus Frost. These two teams are no strangers to each other as they were both looking to one-up each other as a rematch in IEM Katowice's Semi-Finals.

Game 1 was all CJ Frost just winning with a more aggressive team. Gambit felt that they were perhaps the one team that could beat Shy's Singed leaving it open in the pick and bans, however that would prove to be a fatal mistake on their part. Targeting their 3 bans mainly against Woong, Gambit was rather confident in their ability to win. However while Woong would play rather well with his great Ezreal play, the true stars of the game was Shy and Cloudtemplar. With Cloudtemplar being everywhere at once and Shy farming up a storm in top lane, Gambit Gaming had no chance. CJ Frost eventually went on to win this 27 minute game with 3 of their players without a death.

Game 2 was the complete opposite of game 1. Gambit started the game being extremely aggressive before minions even spawned. They went for the counter jungled the blue buff immediately as they knew they could not give Rapidstar the bluebuff. Frost lost the early game with the early blue buff fight, however they would not go down without a fight. Frost would time and time again come to meet Gambit Gaming and trade evenly for about 20 minutes. That all changed when gambit Edward decided he had enough of this game, with flash and Thresh's max ranged pulls, Edward set his team up time and time again to pick out members of Frost eventually making the matches to a 1-1 tie.

Game 3 started out with Gambit again going super aggressive to get the first blood with a jungle invade plus tower dive. Frost however wasn't going to let that continue going immediately to find members of Gambit Gaming and using the see hero kill hero play style. Frost keeps going with the aggression after that early game with Madlife and Shy leading the charge. The pure aggression was just too much for Gambit Gaming to handle eventually snowballing Frost more and more out of control. CJ Entus Frost would be the team that would give Gambit Gaming their first non first place IEM tournament.

Games will begin tomorrow again at 9:30 CET with CJ Entus Blaze vs SKT T1 battling each other for the last spot in the championship.
