The present state of E-Sports and an overview of IPL5

E-Sports has experienced a more monstrous growth in 2012 than perhaps ever seen in the history of competitive gaming.

Earlier, TheNextWeb wrote an article on the effects of the superbly successful IPL5 on the organization and how immense the investment was, costing over $1,000,000 dollars in funding to get the event running with quality and grandeur.

With a 10,000 strong turnout in Las Vegas for Starcraft 2 and League of Legends, vast amounts of interest in the E-sports industry is apparent, and it's growing at a rate never before seen in any other sport.

An excerpt of the article

Here in the United States, MLG and the IGN IPL ProLeague have proven that there is a large, monetizable market for competitive gaming. Also, the two have demonstrated that it isn’t a passing fad, as each has held numerous events to large draw. And as the industry has grown in the past two years, stability has been established as fact; gaming isn’t becoming any less popular, and titles that lend themselves well to the competitive scene are at the top of the charts.

The growth is not only apparently in the United States, but also globally in all regions and countries outside of South Korea. The outreach is immense and E-Sports is proving itself more profitable every day we advance.
