Blizzard Cup: Life is champion of champions

The 15 y/o StarCraft 2 prodigy Seung Hyun "Life" Lee is crowned 2012 Blizzard Cup champion after a 4-2 comeback against teammate PartinG. His prize: $37,200!

The series did not start well for the young zerg, however, and a very un-Partingesque Stargate opening caught him with his pants down and so did the signature immortal all-in push in the second game. The MLG champion was suddenly against the ropes, pressured by an opening 0-2 deficit.

Yet things picked up for Life as the series went along. PartinG's next immortal push arrived just after infestors popped for Life and the protoss army was fungalled, choked and driven back into an eventual defeat. Even more dramatic was the fourth game on Whirlwind when the protoss ball of Parting and the brood lord flock of Life initiated a narrow base race which Parting would eventually lose, failing to hunt down the remaining zerg buildings over a sea of brood lings.

With the score tied and Life on a roll, PartinG looked shaken and that was clearly reflected in how he played out the next two games. Overproducing sentries cost him game five on Entombed Valley and, finally, a massive surround on Bel'Shir Vestige ended his life in this series. Life stood champion, holding his third trophy in the last two months.
