Invictus Gaming (iG), last year's overall champion at the SGNDT, will reportedly miss out this year's event. An SMM organizer confirmed this, stating that the team and/or the sponsor decided that they will instead participate on a local event.

Fans were hopeful of the defending champion's participation after the team joined the initial registration process for this year's event. With this development, it remains that no Chinese team had confirmed for the SGNDT. The winning team from the past 4 years are from China.
