GSL's Mr. Chae: 'We've been discussing unified team league with KeSPA'

Rod "Slasher" Breslau takes the Gamespot camera to the heads of GSL and IPL 5, Mr. Chae and David Ting, respectively. With the year nigh its end, the 2013 future of both leagues and many other topics are being discussed.

As GSL has been constantly improving in terms of production quality and audience reach, the topic of expansion game-wise comes naturally into the conversation. Will the league stop being a StarCraft 2 exclusive and welcome new disciplines, League of Legends for example? Although nothing in particular is confirmed, Mr. Chae states that details should surface at some point during 2013.

What's more thrilling to hear is the talks between ESF and KeSPA about a unified team league. Discussions are still in their earliest phases and nothing is in the clear as merging two different leagues together is a hard task, says Chae, but the sheer prospect of seeing GSTL and Proleague teams in one place is something to look for.

"We might start with some kind of showmatch series and build into unified league from there," adds the GSL director.

Meanwhile, IPL's David Ting discusses the growth of eSports and StarCraft 2 in particular. Is there an oversaturation of SC2 content and how are IPL working around that? What are his thoughts on the newly-found MLG/ESL/DreamHack partnership? When will eSports be featured on TV and does it even need the support of non-Internet media?
