An old and long requested Battle.net feature is about to make a return in the next patch. Alongside clans, players will be able to gather in groups for more immersive community interaction.
As much as the clan feature was a centerpiece of the WarCraft 3 online experience, it was thoroughly missed when StarCraft 2 launched. To right that wrong, Blizzard announced that they would be adding in said feature as well as the new group system. Latter is to give players of a place to interact with each other, much like a Facebook page.

As of now, both clans and groups function similarly, except that players can only join a single clan, but up to 20 groups. A clan also gives a distinctive clan tag while groups are searchable and identifiable by categories. The official post also hinted at competitive options for clans in the future, rendering fans and players hopeful for a immersive time on Battle.net 2.0.
