World Elite dominant in Las Vegas

In a rematch from the winners bracket final, World Elite went against DHW winter champions Fnatic. Three games later, the Chinese sat on the IPL throne, $50,000 richer.

It was a day for rematches for IPL 5 last night. In the fifth round of the losers bracket, TPA and Moscow 5 met for the third time since the S2WC semi finals. To keep the tradition, Assassins were unstoppable against the Russian crew and took a decisive 2-0 to keep their tournament life.

Not for long, though, as their opponents would end up being FnaticRC, the team that sent them down to the losers bracket in the first place. The Europeans - who were not even supposed to be at the event, coming as replacements for Alternate - were having a run equally impressive to their DHW one but dropped to the losers final after failing to resist World Elite.

Like last time, both Rekkles and xPeke would prove most valuable for their teams and the score of 2-0 for Fnatic was repeated - the S2WC champions and heavy favorites for the IPL 5 title were out.

This meant the tournament would end with a China vs Europe battle, a rematch from the winners final as well as from Group A. According to IPL's rules, the champion would be crowned after a best of five with WB winners, namely World Elite, starting with 1-0 advantage.

Little did the audience know that it would be the exact same scenario from the winners final. Fnatic started with a crushing victory, spearheaded by sOAZ's unkillable Lee Sin and Cyanide's Xin ZHao who were the darkest terror to World Elite throughout the entire game.

Fnatic were again the stars as game two went underway, grabbing first blood and taking it to a 7-3 and 10K gold lead. Yet, as is often the case with many professional games, thing took a tumble at the baron pit as Fnatic found themselves picked up and killed one by one, giving Nashor to the Chinese. Fnatic's lead was nullified and WE were now in command. Taking a second baron minutes later allowed the Chinese to tie the series and go in what could be the last game of the day.

Obviously shaken by the loss of the game they very much had, Fnatic were not their full selves in the next set. Giving two kills to WE at level one did not help much also and shortly after, there was no stopping the snowball that was the Chinese team. Fnatic fell 1-3 and after a total of 72 games, IPL 5 crowned their champions: World Elite.
