Code S Ro16 Group A: Zergfall

Despite the unrivaled success in the Ro32, the zerg race was squashed in the vise with protoss and terran jaws as DongRaeGu and Curious face Code S elimination.

Still bloodthirsty from the previous rounds, both agents of the swarm showcased an almost unexplainable desire to end CreatorPrime early. And while a season back it would be unusual to see him in the Ro16 given his poor Code S history, nowadays Creator has grown into WCS Korea and TSL 4 champion and these ferocious attempts for ejection simply did not work this time. Creator endured 2-base roach attacks and fast baneling nests and fooled around with stargate openings in the games that went past the 10th minute mark to punish DongRaeGu and Curious, both of whom would later fight for dear life.

In TvZ land, the reinvigorated with new team colors Ryung came out strong as if he was not playing two of the best terran slayers in the business. Ryung was successful in every endeavor of his whether it was a bunker rush, spire-killing timing attacks, tech sniping (of which there was truly a lot) or base-racing against "those imba brood lord/infestor armies" and, surprisingly, did not lose a single game, despite having to play Whirlwind twice.

This quarter final spot comes just in time for Creator. The Prime protoss had lost his place in the spotlights to Rain's abrupt rise to power but now as the OSL and WCS Asia champion took an early way out, Creator is a name to watch out for once again. Furthermore, there is the real danger of him being the only protoss in the Round of 8 should Parting crumble to the weight of Bogus, Polt and Sniper in two days time, which will surely put additional weight on Creator's shoulders.

As for Ryung, making it to Ro8 has something he's failed to do since fall of 2011 and not for the lack of trying. Whether donning the Axiom jersey to cover a SlayerS past has some magical powers remains to be seen, though with a LSC bronze for Crank and Code S top eight for Ryung that might very well be so.
