ESL is looking to get warm and cozy in time for Christmas. IEM Cologne will be played out in ESL's own home - the ESL TV studio - starting on December 14. To keep the tone familial and festive, only a small group of League of Legends players will be invited to this exclusive tournament. The guests will even take presents home in the shape of a $50,000 USD prize pool and one qualifying spot for the IEM finals in Hannover next year.

Eight teams will be invited in total via online qualifiers. Four teams will qualify from Europe, two from North America and two from Asia. Qualifiers are starting soon, but full details have yet to be announced by ESL.

The venue, right beside the Rhine, is considerably more compact than the usual computer fair atmosphere that IEM events usually offer. From the ESL statement:

"Opponents are sitting close to each other, right behind the commentators and the fans can watch their stars from just a few metres away at the bar or the seating area."

The tournament begins on December 14 and runs till the 16th.
