After becoming the WCS champion of Asia, Rain is back in Korea for more premier trophies. With an overwhelming 4-1 against MVP_DongRaeGu, the SKT protoss is crowned the first ever StarCraft 2 champion of the OSL.

Who knew that the answer to turtling late-game zerg is death by warp prisms? Rain did and DongRaeGu, hiding behind a great wall of spine crawlers and a dark flock of brood lords, quickly started losing bases, tech and economy until there were only a couple of hatcheries left to reinforce his army. The zealots and DTs of Rain were everywhere while his main force carefully avoided every engagement. Knowing he can wait no longer, DRG had to move out but a vortex delayed his advancement and not until neuraling and destroying it could he make a move towards Rain’s fourth.

With no economy but still a scary infestor/brood lord army, DRG arrived at his destination and ostensibly demonstrated why ZvP is often given as example for game’s imbalance. A few fungals and an a-move command ended Rain on the spot after long minutes of protoss supremacy.

Having learned his lesson, Rain opened game two in a very similar way: stargate into warp prisms but this time he never allowed DRG to reach greater spire armies. The very same “don’t go to late game” philosophy would repeat itself in sets three and four as well as two consecutive three-base immortals pushes rolled over DRG like nothing.

Within one game from elimination, DRG desperately needed to do something different and said thing was mutalisk opening into rapid expanding. To his ill luck, however, Rain was already many steps ahead. The mutalisks got repelled and so did the ground attack at Rain’s third, DRG was completely and utterly shut down. His only real advantage – the blooming economy – was torn down soon enough as well, as DTs were sent to every zerg base on the map, sparking a drone holocaust that marked the beginning of DRG’s end. Once thegateway/immortal push was at the doors, DRG could do nothing but stare in disbelief before GG-ing out.

This is the first time in OSL's history in which the protoss race has won three trophies in a row thanks to Jangbi's back-to-back titles against Fantasy and now Rain's triumph over DRG.
