Fnatic and Curse through to EmpireTV final

After a few teething troubles, EmpireTV Challenge got down to business and brings us an exciting prospect of a final.

Dropouts were the story of day one, as both SK and Eclypsia were unable to attend the EmpireTV Challenge. On top of that, Moscow Five had to play with a substitute for several of their games, all of which meant that the tournament got off to a less than perfect start.

But when the action got going all was forgiven, especially when one of the replacement teams Kiedys managed to take a game from MYM. In the end, all four opening round games were fairly predictable though, which set up a more interesting second round. Curse vs MYM looked decent, but M5 vs Fnatic was definitely top of the bill. The Russians cruised to a 2-0 victory but were surprisingly beaten in the winner bracket final by Curse, setting up a rematch for Xpeke’s team in the lower bracket final.

Things started as planned for M5, who took a 1-0 lead. But Fnatic showed that they have what it takes and managed to pull back from behind to win 2-1 in impressive style against a somewhat unusual M5 setup. Many people complained that M5 were trolling with Fiddlesticks jungle alongside some other unusual choices, but Fnatic played well and earned their spot in tomorrow’s grand final. They will face Curse at 17:00 CEST with Curse already up 1-0.
