The Siege group stage finally over

The gruellingly long opening stage of The Siege finally ended with Tt Dragons being eliminated, despite winning the last game of the group.

In2LoL’s The Siege tournament seems like it’s been going on forever. The first match was played way back on July 21, but the busy schedule of top LoL teams this summer meant that the final game of the group stage was only played last night.

Tt Dragons won the final match of the stage one, though the game was not streamed live. It was a bittersweet victory for the German team, who were eliminated from the tournament despite their 2-0 win. With three teams going through from each group of four, the fact that they tied for 2nd with a 1-2 record makes elimination even harder to swallow. Only Curse EU managed to avoid that confusion in Group C by going 3-0 to top the group.

Elsewhere, M5 unsurprisingly topped Group A with a perfect record of their own. MYM were the team to bow out with a 0-3 record. Group B was much closer, with SK and Acer both winning two games to tie for first place. Spanish team PEINE missed out there, while the final group, D, saw Megashock bow out. Also in that group, Fnatic were the only other team in the group stage with a 3-0 record.

With stage one completed, the 12 remaining teams will be split into four groups of three. Those groups have yet to be decided, but most of Europe’s best teams will be fighting tooth and nail to make it to the double elimination bracket. Again, just one team will be eliminated from each group, but competition will be fierce with so many great teams.
