Day one of NA regionals goes as expected

The first quarter-finals are over but brought no surprises, with the favourites winning 2-0 in both games.

Day one of NA Regionals is in the books and despite some entertaining games, the results were very predictable. In the opener, Curse seemed to have put last weekend's troubles behind them as they cruised to a 2-0 victory over TSM Evo. An early team fight win in game one put Curse is what proved to be an irreversible lead. Game two saw Evo take an early lead after multiple top lane ganks, They were unable to convert that lead into victory though as Curse turned the game in their favour thanks to an excellent team fight around the Baron.

In the second match, the main TSM team faced Monomaniacs Ferus. After a couple of early kills, game one actually slowed down into a relatively passive farm fest. Chaox on Corki started to make the difference, with multiple kills and a sizeable creepscore lead over the opponent's carry. TSM knows how to push a lead home and eventually just crushed mMe with superior team fighting. Game two started much quicker, with a tower kill before four minutes. Monomaniacs were able to pull themselves back within touching distance, but again it was the team fight coordination of TSM that made the difference. An ace led to a Baron kill and a 2-0 win for the tournament favourites.

TSM and Curse are now just one win away from qualifying for the global finals, but will face each other in the next round. That game is probably the most anticipated of the the tournament, but fans will have to wait until Saturday. Today we will see the second pair of quarter-finals, with Dignitas also looking to put the MLG debacle behind them.
