Evenly matched Group A comes to an end

A somewhat messy and unusual day one of Campus Party saw MYM and Mousesports emerge victorious from a difficult Group A.

With day one completed, Campus Party already brought us a bit of a surprise, as Curse failed to make it out of the group stage. It seems as though their final game was stopped at 1-1, after an entertaining seond map, as admins had worked out that Curse could no longer qualify for knockout play despite a potential three-way tie. The system in place for such scenarios apparently meant that Curse would be defaulted to third place, despite being on six points alongside Mouz and MYM. This is obviously a disappointing end to the tournament for a team that also did poorly at last week's IEM, but will surely feel hard done by to go out in such a strange fashion.

Mousesports and MYM are the benefactors of Curse's misfortune, but Europe's sole representative at the recent MLG Summer Arena struck out pretty badly once again. BLACK did help to make the most entertaining game of the day, with their support Janna out-earning Curse's Jax in gold by the 20 minute mark. The action-packed game went even better for their carry, who ended on ridiculous 22/3/12 stats. Still, Curse destroyed them in the second game and the third was called off.

Tomorrow the star turns of the event will go at one another. SK and Fnatic are the two clear favourites for the whole tournament, let alone Group B, but they will face each other immediately. With one favourite out already, losing in the clash of the titans could cost more than just pride.
