Greg "Idra" Fields and Min Chul "MC" Jang were announced as the last two player to get spots at the upcoming Iron Squid tournament. The event itself is scheduled to end early May and will have sixteen of worlds most renowned players competing for the $25,000 that will be up for grabs.

Announced almost a month ago, the newly born Iron Squid tournament has the ambition to make its way towards the higher podiums of StarCraft 2 events. Its first season is to have sixteen top contenders (14 invites and two qualifier winners) play online through group stage and a direct elimination playoffs until the top four is made known. Those will then be flown to Paris, France to play the remaining matches in front of a live audience.

In the course of several weeks, Iron Squid announced fourteen invites, boosting its player line-up with the names of MarineKing, Alive, Stephano, Puma, Leenock, ToD, Ret and more. Meanwhile, the qualifier winners were also determined, namely the Korean zerg duo TSL_Symbol and ZeneXLife.

On February 10th, the last pair of Iron Squid contenders was revealed - a pair the SC2 community is most familiar with. Those were EG's Idra and SK.MC - two of the best representatives of their respective countries and who have a long history of rivalry, spanning across three MLG and two DreamHack events.
