Brood War veterans Greg "IdrA" Fields and Yo Hwan "BoxeR" Lim won their initial series in Pool A over Hayder "HayprO" Hussein and Andrew "Drewbie" Moysey respectively.
An on-song "IdrA" proved why his opponents should not allow him to morph in those extra drones inbetween the offensive unit macroing. Aside from a loss on Antiga Shipyard to a six-pool drone all-in from "HayprO", "IdrA's" better macro and unit control in game one and three allowed his roach and hydra army to deny the Swedish Zerg an opening match victory.

At the same time, the group's other favorite to finish on top, "BoxeR", disposed Canadian Terran in one long and one short game. The first game, on Metalopolis, saw Drewbie open up with banshee play which the "Terran Emperor" could defend well with a few vikings.
After some minutes of playing the positioning game with siege tanks, marines and vikings, BoxeR went in for an attack just as Drewbie was caught off guard with his units spread out in the bottom instead of defending his natural. This allowed BoxeR to position nicely with his tanks and tonne of maries and thus left Drewbie chanceless.
The SlayerS captain hit the nail in the Drewbie coffin on Metalopolis with a very offensive reaper-hellion push on Shattered Temple. The Canadian compLexity player might just have teched up to early and committed to double gas and had nothing but marines to defend with. And with the fly-in of a reinforcement banshee, Drewbie tapped out to admit defeat.
