After two days of group stage plays, the championship bracket of IPL 3 finally went under way. Yesterday night, all Ro32 games were played as well as the better part of the Ro16 ones.
As you will see below, many of the games ended according to popular expectations, but the night was not void of emotions. Kiwikaki and Stephano played one of the best PvZs recently seen, as the Canadian took the first set from the zerg with a mothership usage that started with constant recalls and ended with a swirly "archon toilet", wiping the entire force of Stephano and making the audience explode.
One of the most eagerly expected matches was Boxer vs Lucky, which did not end well for the Emperor and his fans. Lucky's zergling control and surgical aggression and surrounds brought Boxer to his knees but there was only an honest smile on Emperor's face during the post-game interview.
- "I wasnt going to play HuK [regarding the BroodWar show-match the two played earlier in the tournament] but I watched him and he wasn't very good", jokingly commented Boxer to receive a round of cheerful applauds from the crowd.
The biggest upset for the night was probably MC's fall to FXOInori, brought upon him by MC's own greed. In the third game, the oGs protoss went for an immortal prism drop but overstayed his welcome in Inori's base for too long, tempted to kill just one more pylon. That gave Inori enough time to come home and snipe all three units of MC, making it practically impossible for him to win the series.
