In the European groups, .exe and PANZER faced and beat FUBAR and Rangers in the battle Germany versus Sweden. Russian participants FiveStars and OSI had to fight rookies in the first round, with varying success. While FiveStars had an easy time against S4M, OSI suffered defeat against icon after a tough battle and an early player drop. The currently strongest western European teams Virus and Monkeybusiness both needed less then 30 minutes to finish their first game.
Opponents in the matches were Turkish KYe and Egyptian [CC] who have another two rounds left to prove themselves in the top-level DotA-circuit. Group D has seen the veiled CC and Global Challengers scoring victories.
The power structure in the American groups turned into a two-class society after mostly onesided games in the first round. US allstar team ez Style and BK(| rolled over their opponents in group E, whereas Area51 and uE finished off Waffle Fort and LOST.ar. Both groups will see interesting matches in the second round where the two winning and the two losing teams face each other for a spot in the play-offs.
The South-East Asian groups, that appear to be the most stacked at this point, have partly already entered the second round. Vietnamese SkyNet pulled away strongly from the opposition and only have MUFC left to play. Group H leaves three teams with chances to advance, after four played games and another two being held today.
