ICSC 9 - Groupstage 2 Completed

After another week of solid play, the second group stage of ICSC 9 comes to an end. With the great action by all participants this week, we already look forward to seeing what will come in the near future for the third group stage.

As only strong teams were left after the first stage, the competition leveled up as every team battled to progress once again. With so many strong teams, no group had two teams that looked certain to go through to the next round, shown by group A when Decerto end up losing to both Hard Team and GGnet, both of which end up advancing to the third round. In group B we had more upsets, as GC toppled the Ukrainian giants, Na'Vi. Na'Vi narrowly managed to progress after two good wins against Strong Team and Sairota.

Group C, which looked like the death group of the round, proved to be. The Bulgarian underdogs esG took the first game off M5, giving M5 their first loss of the tournament. esG played brilliantly again in game two, nearly taking the game, but M5 turned up the heat and tied the match. Along with M5, Virus also progressed after two good games against esG securing their spot in the third round. In group D we see Monkey and EMC progressing, both with 2 wins and 1 draw each, and Monkey only getting first seed due to time rating.


With the third stage's groups released, the time draws near to the offline LAN finals. With two very strong groups, we anticipate some amazing games in the next best-of-two single elimination round.
