With the first round of group stage matches, we look back at what have been some great matches over the past week. Three tremendous games by the Romanians from sTurtle, with Na`Vi among the opponents, have cemented them first place in Group A, one of the hardest of the round. M5 were, as expected, flying through their group with ease, after the addition of Vigoss and PGG to the line-up. OK.Nv.int are looking solid after taking first position in Group C, by beating esG and Game Zone convincingly. In Group D, we have a three-way tie for first place, seeing Monkey, FEARZ and Power Rangers all sitting on two wins and one loss.
The team from Macedonia, GC, were playing very well in their group and took the first spot, after upsetting 4GL, Next.kz and HT. GGnet, who remain without five stable players, had to make use of stand-ins every game, yet still managed to take second place. C4 from Jordan played brilliantly, finishing first in Group F against some tough opposition. In a shock loss for the final game of the group stage of Group G, Sairota defeat SGC to take 2nd place in the group and advance by a whisker along with top of the group Decerto. In Group H the Russian Strong Team taking first spot in a 3 way tie between them, Virus and OSi. Virus being the other team advancing.
With a lot of unexpected outcomes and strong performances from under-rated teams, we're surely in for some great matches to come in the next 3 rounds of play.
With the first round of group matches completed, the second group stage fixtures have been released.
