Flight of the Fenix: Code A August Ro32 Day 2

In the second day of Code A, Peruvian terran Fenix had to prove that being part of the MLG/GSL exchange program is not mere coincidence. And right after his first roam over GSL, players like Boxer, MarineKing and Leenock followed up with their games for survival.

Peru Fenix vs South Korea Tassadar

Fenix was the first foreigner to come on GSL stage this August. Tassadar was expecting him and was prepared, though, more than enough even. On Tal'darim Fenix opened with the safe 1-rax with reactor into CC but was soon assaulted by the high-econ 4-gate pressure of Tassadar. Failing the repair his bunker on time, Fenix was quickly down 0-1.
On Metalopolis, Fenix chose to do a 1-base concussive shell rush, but he moved at the most wrong of times. Tassadar's proxy stargate into 3-gate pressure arrived just as the bio forces of terran were so far away that there was little hope for the Peruvian to go back and defend in time. 0-2, the flight of the Fenix was short.

South Korea Leenock vs South Korea Boxer

In all sets, Boxer tried to make the tankless hellion/marine style work to its best against the swarm of Leenock but sadly, it was not meant to be. On Dual Sight, a baneling mine crippled Boxer's push and minutes later a second one cleaned all the marines during Leenock's counter attack. The Tal'Darim set was a bit longer but ended with the same result - Boxer's bio/hellion composition was just too weak and suffered defeat at the hands of Leenock's massive baneling/mutalisk numbers.

South Korea Dream vs South Korea Maka

The Daybreak set sent me back to MLG Anaheim and the memories of the epic Boxer vs Rain Metalopolis set. Maka and Dream put out quite the similar show (though "only" 55 minutes long). Mass Vikings, Ravens, Thors and BCs clashed constantly until Maka found himself in possession of nearly 40 +3 vikings - an army big enough to force a GG out of Dream.
The second set stood in the absolute contrast, ending before the 15-minute mark as Maka's heavily upgraded bio army (with stim, shells and combat shields) hit Dream before he could get his mass factory build going.

South Korea MarineKing vs South Korea Hack

The Crossfire set was fairly even for either player, each trying to take a stable position around the narrow corridors of the map. Near the end of the game, Hack moved a formation of tanks down MKP's left gold expo and started a heavy siege but MarineKing repaired it to keep it alive. Which was all he needed, apparently, as few minutes later he caught a juicy SCV transfer, which became a feast for his preigniter hellions. The units lost tab showed 93 SCVs lost and Hack was forced to GG out.
On Fortress, Hack won an early victory after his Banshee sniped the starport tech lab of MKP under the eyes of some quite lazy SCVs. But instead of trying to get back in the tech war, MKP just went for an all-in counter attack, launching every bit of his forces to overwhelm Hack, who was by that time just gearing up for an expansion.
