Recap of the Season
At the beginning of the season, one particular team among others distinguished themselves. The Russian team The Retry dominated the first half of the league: their aggressive playstyle and fast tempo earned them the top spot on the leaders' board for five consecutive weeks. Their opponents in the like of MYM, LOST.Eu (now known as Browned Potatoes) or eyes.Int (Rus Dive Is Nothing) crumbled one by one. Rewatching TR's performance during the first part of the season is highly recommended. Note mentioning is the performance of the Finnish team seppo13 who managed to pull out some innovative hero-picks and strategies during the first part of the season.
New World Order, the later to become Team GosuGamers, on the other hand had a late start in the league. Several of their earlier matches were played at a much later date than scheduled, which led them to fly under the radar. Meanwhile, several changes took place in the DotA scene: on Matchday 4, EDE's Dream Team Not was replaced by magical Gaming. The following week, the French team BLAST.Dota switched to Virus.Dota, a new sponsor, with a slight change in their roster.
During the same week however, probably the biggest acquisition in GosuGamers' DotA History, the team NWO led by Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov finally joined Team GosuGamers. The full coverage including an interview with Kuro 'KuroKy' Salehi Takhasomi can be found by > > Clicking Here < <.
Towards the end of the season after LOST.Eu retired from DotA, Ducky's team went under the name Browned Potatoes. Sadly also, magical Gaming and TeG, seeing a bleak future, started forfeiting their remaining matches.
In the end however, only three teams stood the test of time. The European star team DTS Chatrix suffered two losses after the departure of ArtStyle and Dendi, and went on to win the rest of their matches. Those two loses however would prove very costly against the top two teams' nearly flawless run. During the whole league, MYM lost only against TR during the latter's dominating streak while GGnet lost to MYM. Now both teams are face to face once again, tied at the end of the season. Only a best of three final will decide who will be Pick League Division 1 Champion. Will history repeat itself or will the red swan emerge victorious?
