INTERVIEW: MoMaN Won the Bronze Final on his Birthday

MoMaN had his ups and downs during the GosuGamers Holiday Special, and especially in Terran vs Zerg, where he showed both some very high level play, but also some big blunders. But it was still enough to win him the third place prize of €50 on his birthday.

Congratulations on your birthday, and your third place - how does it feel?

I feel more old, sadly. I'm happy, but a little frustrated because I played against Kas in the semi finals, I played bad, and he played really well. Though in the second game I gave him the win unfortunately. I lost versus the winner of the tournament, too bad I didn't play well enough, but it's OK. I'm happy for him!

Overall it was a really nice tournament with a high level, and to get into the playoffs you had to qualify, which was hard! So it's nice that I made it this far (smiles)”

What's the reason for your mistakes against Kas, when you just came from beating Strelok with some very solid ZvT, and showed again some very solid play in the bronze final, also a ZvT?

It's very hard to know what Kas as a Terran is doing, if he will play aggressive or defensive, should I switch my production, make more drones, take another expansion or not... Sometimes I'm really strong, but somtimes I'm like a noob (smiles) It's the matchup I have hardest time with, I can beat the best Terran, but I can also lose to the worst.”

MoMaN won against one of the favorites of the tournament, Strelok, in the quarter finals, but lost to Kas in the semis and met HasHe in the bronze final. HasHe managed to beat MoMaN in the qualifiers, but the Frenchman learned his lesson and came back.

The games were really close, and really nice. I'm going to have to watch the replays I think (smiles) I finally managed to win 2-1 in the bronze final, and I'm so happy to take the third place! I hope I can do the same in upcoming tournaments, and I really love playing tournaments. Especially when the admins and streamers are doing such a good job, it makes the viewers very happy, and me too. So thank you a lot for your work of all that!”
