Fifteen years of Worlds now sit etched in silver, but only one team gets to add the next line.
League of Legends (LoL) developer Riot Games has unveiled a new Summoner’s Cup to celebrate fifteen years of Worlds. Unveiled on Friday (19 September), the redesigned trophy brings back the silhouette of the original but with modern updates, lighter materials, and a base engraved with the names of all past champions from 2011 to 2024.
The return of the Summoner’s Cup’s original silhouette
The new Cup weighs nearly half that of the previous Tiffany & Co. edition, making it easier and safer to hoist on stage. Standing on a seven-inch base, it is etched with the names of every Worlds-winning team to date. The tradition now runs from Fnatic’s very first triumph in 2011 to T1’s back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024. The Cup will be delivered to the Finals in Chengdu by Riot’s official automotive partner, Mercedes-Benz.
Chris Greeley, Global Head of LoL Esports at Riot Games, described the moment as a milestone for the scene: “Worlds 2025 in China is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of 15 years of League Esports. What started in small studios with homegrown broadcasts has grown into sold-out arenas and millions watching worldwide. As we mark this milestone, we honour the players, teams, and unforgettable moments that built our sport and shaped the future of competitive gaming.”
Fifteen years of LoL World championships
From humble beginnings in 2011, Worlds has grown into a global event that fills stadiums and captures audiences in the millions. The Cup’s base carries a record of every team that has shaped fifteen years of Worlds. The engraving on the base of the new Summoner’s Cup tells the story of fifteen years of World champions:
- 2011:
Fnatic were crowned the very first Worlds champions. - 2012:
Taipei Assassins shocked the world with an upset victory. - 2013:
SK Telecom T1/Masters began their dynasty with their first title. - 2014:
Samsung Galaxy White dominated the tournament. - 2015: SKT T1 claimed their second title.
- 2016: SKT T1 lifted their third Summoner’s Cup, cementing their legacy.
- 2017:
Samsung Galaxy dethroned SKT in Beijing. - 2018:
Invictus Gaming became the first LPL team to win Worlds. - 2019:
FunPlus Phoenix soared to glory. - 2020:
Dplus KIA (now Dplus KIA) restored the title to Korea. - 2021:
EDward Gaming shocked DWG KIA in the Finals. - 2022:
DRX completed one of the greatest underdog runs in Worlds history. - 2023:
T1 won their fourth Summoner’s Cup. - 2024: T1 defended their crown, securing back-to-back victories.
This year’s Cup design captures that legacy while ushering in a new chapter for the tournament.
New Worlds anthem by G.E.M.
Adding to the milestone celebrations, Riot confirmed that the new Worlds anthem will be performed by Chinese superstar G.E.M. (Gloria Tang Tsz-kei). One of China’s most renowned artists, she is known for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, with a career spanning over a decade and a massive following across Asia.

“I am truly honoured to collaborate with Riot Games on the anthem for this year’s 15th LoL Esports World Championship in China,” G.E.M. shared.
She explained that she has followed LoL Esports for some time and has been “deeply moved by the fighting spirit on stage.” For her, the courage to sacrifice for the team and the strength to hold on to beliefs resonates not just as an artist but also as someone who has risen against the odds in pursuit of a dream.
“I hope to capture that spirit through music and share it with fans all around the world,” she added.
The Worlds 2025 anthem will premiere in October alongside a music video featuring legendary players, iconic teams, and unforgettable plays from across the years. It will be available on the official League of Legends YouTube channel and streaming platforms worldwide.
Opening Ceremony in Chengdu
Finals Day in Chengdu’s Dong’an Lake Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium will host an Opening Ceremony with headlining performances by G.E.M. and visionary electronic artist Anyma. They will be joined by Chrissy Costanza and TEYA in a show combining music, storytelling, and cutting-edge visuals to mark the biggest milestone in LoL Esports yet.
Anyma expressed his excitement about joining the celebration: “I’ve been an avid gamer all my life, so headlining Worlds 2025 is a real honour. Riot Games’ consistent storytelling on such a large scale feels truly limitless. League of Legends has created universes that inspire millions, and I’m thrilled to bring my sound and touch into their world to push the boundaries of what’s possible through such an impactful medium.”
Extra celebrations in-game
To mark the anniversary, Riot will also release new elite chromas in patch 25.20 for two iconic Worlds-winning teams: 2018 Invictus Gaming and 2017 Samsung Galaxy. While chromas have been part of Worlds skins since 2019, this update extends the feature to earlier skin lines, with further plans to update future Worlds events. The timing aligns with Invictus Gaming reuniting members of their historic roster, while Gen.G, SSG’s successor, arrive at Worlds 2025 fresh off back-to-back MSI titles.
As Riot Games celebrates 15 years of Worlds, the focus is firmly on the future: continuing to evolve the sport, inspiring new generations of players and fans, and creating unforgettable moments for decades to come.
