LOUD won big against DetonatioN FocusMe, making Brazilian fans very happy.
DetonatioN FocusMe’s first game of the day saw the team go up against LOUD, who’s fresh off a loss against Beyond Gaming. DetonatioN lost this one, but LOUD picked up a well-earned win after practically steamrolling its competition in the midgame.
Guess how this match started: a delay! Day 1 of Worlds 2022 has been full of them, and some of them have been egregiously long. This was sadly one of the longer ones, building up plenty of anticipation for a match that would hopefully be worth the wait. It might have been too, had the game not been paused again almost immediately after the drafting phase. Alas! Day 1 of Worlds 2022 has not been off to a great start on the production side of things, already running a whopping two hours behind schedule by this point.
Once the match got started, First Blood went to DetonatioN at the four-minute mark after LOUD’s Robo got cornered with no hope of escape. LOUD made things even by picking up another kill by the nine-minute amark, making this anyone’s game depending on who snagged the Rift Herald. A massive fight in the jungle over the Herald saw six kills go down in LOUD’s favour, in one of the biggest early game clashes we’ve seen yet today! LOUD came out of this with six kills to DetonatioN’s three, putting pressure on the latter team to catch up.
LOUD proceeded to pick up another dragon with very little resistance, and Robo scored another kill against Evi to the undying excitement of the audience, who has rallied behind Robo after he sent out a tweet calling for the support of Brazilian fans:
Just a little bit of background for anyone wondering why #Robsday is being spammed everywhere on League’s social media channels right now. Going back to the match, LOUD kept its pace going with five kills over DetonatioN and a mild gold lead, which the latter team just couldn’t seem to overturn despite its best efforts. Another dragon popped up and DetonatioN put up a fight over it but suffered two kills, and LOUD took the soul anyway. LOUD pushed into the opposing home base while DetonatioN did its best to beat them back.
LOUD ended up pushing all the way through and took down the Nexus turrets to score the fastest win of Day 1 by far. This was an exciting victory for LOUD, and the audience certainly loved it - they were chanting all the way through these last few minutes. LOUD ends the day with 1-1, while DetonatioN walks away at 0-1. It’s far from over for both teams however, as Worlds 2022 pushes on.
