World of upsets

The world event for League of Legends started three days ago. This year, upsetting games is the new trend.

Sports and their stories are engaging as they include stories where the weak can overcome the odds. In theory, unexpected turns make the greatest stories.

However, what becomes of the story when there are unexpected turns left and right? We end up with something relatively close to what we've seen at Paris. Today, we will review some of our picks for the biggest upsets we've seen so far.

Cloud 9

It's impossible to disregard Cloud 9 from this list. This team has had internal problems during the summer split until Hai took the reins of the team. His shot-calling made some visible differences during the regular season, but C9's impressive games so far have been outstanding.

The Cinderella run during the regionals was not a fluke. In fact, it was the beginning to a steep learning curve they established during the summer. Beating both Invictus Gaming and AHQ is no easy task. We are interested in observing their progess during the group stage and perhaps the knockout stage.

LGD Gaming

There are so many things to write about LGD Gaming. First, they were the heavy favorites coming into the tournament. Second, they have one of the most stacked teams in regards to their talent. And lastly, they're losing.

Their playoff run was spectacular to watch. However, their games during the last two days were none other than the result of their slumping performance. This is not to discredit KT Rolsters and Origen at all for their beautiful plays. The bottom line is that LGD was expected to dominate. They came short.

Yoe Flash Wolves' win over KOO Tigers

The Flash Wolves are part of the newly created LMS region where former stars like Stanley and Toyz play. Their performance during the summer season was solid. Not to mention, their game against Counter Logic Gaming was marginally close, making Flash Wolves a team to look out for.

However, no one thought Flash Wolves would take KOO Tigers by the heel. They choose to play with poke champions, when KOO went for the Lulu-Jinx combo. The Wolves were able to bite harder than the Tigers as they took away the victory.

Teams worth mentioning

Conclusion

When all said and done, upsets are interesting to watch. Sometimes, we reflect and realize that Koreans are not gods. With the recent games, we can slowly and maturely state that the West is not so far from the East afterall. Although, I may have to apologize to our TSM fans as they have been winless so far. Maybe next year?

Before I let you go, I would like to quote one of our editorial members.
