On June 23rd, a roster change in the organization was announced. It was stated that Karim (Airwaks) Banghalia decided to leave voluntarily on a short notice. When the Wolves were short on options, they've decided Ilyas (Shook) Hartsema to take over the jungle role that Airwaks left. Shook starts with the Wolves from Week 5.
Airwaks' leave was unprecedented, but the possibility of his leave was just as much undeniable. In the first week of the EU LCS, Copenhagen Wolves coach, Dentist, was accused of exploiting leakage of their opponents’ strategies with the help of the Riot Games caster, Deficio. Although the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence, both were suspended from their duties due to unannounced talks of management positions in the Copenhagen Wolves’ organization. Due to these incidents, a poor team atmosphere condensed as many losses followed. Copenhagen Wolves are currently tied with 3 other teams for the last spot in the standings.
Airwaks claimed that he has tried to remedy his team’s atmosphere by bringing in wins for his team. Unfortunately, the team has not performed well enough to cure the ominous atmosphere they had. With Shook in the team, we will now see if he can help the Wolves move up in the standings.
Is Shook the replacement Copenhagen Wolves need? Since Shook left Alliance during the previous split (which ended disastrous for Alliance), Copenhagen Wolves took the perfect opportunity to sign Shook into their roster. Shook is hailed for his solid mechanics as an influential jungler throughout the map. Copenhagen Wolves was originally the team that groomed Shook as an all-star potential player. The arrival of Shook may give a breather to the Wolves’ poor morale, but he needs to help the team grow as professionals, for he is a veteran who was in a European champion team once. Only time and the future results will tell if Shook was the replacement Copenhagen Wolves claimed that they have needed.
