Masters All-Stars kicks off with Classic and Legends

Masters took a break from the serious competition OGN usually brings its fans and instead highlighted the roots of Korean League of Legends and a general love of the game.

The first Korean rivalry entered the rift and gave the crowd a bout of nostalgic entertainment.  MaKNooN, viNylCat, CloudTemplar, Hiro, and MadLife all played champions they're well-known for even if they don't necessarily fit into the meta today.

That didn't mean the game was predictable.  CloudTemplar surprised many by ganking mid at level two for first blood.  The bottom lane was also packed with action with Woong accumulating kills.  MaKNooN ahad success against Shy top with his Teemo pick, but MiG began to run away with the game.

The game started to turn when MOKUZA stole Baron, despite his sloppy play-making earlier.  EDG managed to stay in the game after that, despite losing the first inhibitor.  Woong began to build playfully, picking up a Randuin's and a Warmog's Armor.  Even so, MiG was able to rally for the win.

Strange picks all around came out for this first game.  InSec was caught out in the invade, and ended up giving Ambition first blood and double buffs.  Luckily for AllStars, Faker could keep him at bay with his Heimer turrets during the buff duration.  Kills went back and forth in the bottom lane, and InSec continued to give up deaths on ganks.

An early Baron attempt resulted from the use of traps and InSec's clone, but it only escalated into kills for both sides.  Instead, both teams turned their attentions to bottom lane and dragon, and the AllStars team started to take a lead with a turret pickup, a dragon, and a kill advantage.  They, however, lost this advantage on an ill-advised blue buff invade, but not for long.  They did manage to pick up the Baron eventually and won the resulting team fight.  This gave AllStars a massive gold lead, which they converted that to towers.

AllStars did eventually win the game, and highlights included Impact gaining a pentakill on Gangplank and InSec attempting an xPeke while the rest of his team took a Baron.

The Masters team came out with a more conventional composition, but the AllStars team decided on a last minute role swap.  The game went into Masters' favor early on with an invade on the AllStar red buff.  Masters picked up four kills for two deaths and started pressuring the advantage around the map.

Even with an unconventional composition, the AllStars team slowly evened out the kill score using wards to make good catches.  Their lack of a conventional AD carry, however, meant they fell behind in turrets to Mata's Caitlyn.  A dragon fight eventually found Masters a stronger advantage in a kill and three thousand gold lead.

AllStars wouldn't go down without a fight, however, as Faker's Malphite managed to initiate a powerful engagement behind Masters' first tier mid turret.  Masters, however, kept winning dragon fights and taking the scaley objective until their gold lead became insurmountable.  They then could go for Baron and slowly chip away at towers to end the game and split the series.
