WCG Group stages come to an end with 8 teams advancing to the playoffs.
With so many international tournaments going on simultaneously, WCG is the one that defintely sports the largest variety of teams. In group A, 3 year veteran squad MeetYourMakers could not find enough success to make it past the group stage, only going even but surpassing the performance of ESC Gaming and the DQ'd Dash9 Gaming. yoe Flash Wolves managed to advance, a team where the majority of it's roster is from Season 3 World Championship participants Gamania Bears. Lyon Gaming, hailing from Mexico, advances undefeated in the group.
Group B also had a DQ, and this time it was Millenium. Surpassed in this brakcet were ANG and IGA, surpassed by Dark Passage hailing from Austrailia and the long-term reigning Chinese team OMG who make easy work of their competition.
Group C was potentially the most hyped group of the tournament. It was the only group without disqualifications and the international debut of the very hyped professional Japanese team Rampage. Unfortunately, the aforementioned was not able to advance, only going 1-3 in the bracket. Meanwhile, Spring LPL vets Energy Pacemaker made it through with a positive record with CJ Entus Blaze clearly ahead of the competition.
Group D would have the only American team who was attending drop out, which would leave four others in a very imbalanced group. RED advanced through the group only suffering a loss to the group's undefeated team World Elite. RED recently held their own for a short while against Gambit Gaming at IEM Cologne, suffering defeat but making up for it by advancing to the bracket stage of the WCG 2013 World Championship.
The playoffs kickoff at 04:00 CET with the Mexican powerhouse Lyon Gaming taking on the other most noteworthy Russian team of RED.
