The second week of Champions Winter 2014 pitted many new teams against older names. Most of these faceoffs resulted in decisive victories in favor of the veterans, but Group C gave us more close games, and the Jin Air Greenwings teams split even.
To open the week, Najin White Shield took on one of the newer additions to the Champions Winter lineup, Team Dark. The series resulted in a pretty decisive 2-0 for Najin White Shield, as they continue to find success since their strong showing in World Cyber Games qualifiers. The second set pitted CJ Entus Frost against Jin Air Green Wings Stealth. Though CJ Frost struggled slightly in the first game as MakNooN tried to find his feet in his new role, their experience has taught them how to come back from behind, and they took that game and the next with decisive play and strong team work.
Friday's games featured the week's most anticipated matchups: SKT T1 K vs SKT T1 S and Samsung Blue vs Najin Black Sword. Continuing to make their mark on, not just the world, but the Korean scene, SKT T1 K took their games from S in a seemingly effortless fashion. Following SKT T1 K's strong play, Group B gave viewers close games to balance out the veterans' domination. Both Samsung Blue and Najin Black Sword continue to look like impressive contenders, and it's seeming like more of a shame that only two teams will escape Group B. Each team took a win in the best of two.
Team Dark played again on Saturday, this time losing both their games to Samsung Galaxy Ozone, already ensuring that they will not advance from Group C. The games were so decisive, in fact, that SG Ozone now lead in KDA standings in all roles except bottom lane. DanDy, in particular, now holds a KDA of 46. Finally, the week ended in another sister team faceoff between the Jin Air Stealths and Jin Air Falcons. These teams proved much more evenly matched than SKT T1 S and K, and each team found themselves a win.
