In a tournament where an eSports career may be on the line for several young individuals, a shocking number of teams have reached disqualification in just the second day.
The Spring Promotion Qualifier is a chance for both North American teams and European teams on the uprising to make it into the LCS; however, it's not being treated as such. Seven total teams have already been disqualified, with three coming from North America and four coming from Europe. Each team got disqualified for their own reasons, with Millenium's being the most controversial of the bunch.
Karont3 e-Sports Club, Yalta conference, UNiTE Gaming, and compLexity Academy got disqualified due to missing one or more members. The Mexican squad of Lyon Gaming forfeited before the tournament began and BUnicorns forfeited due to a midlane bugsplat.
Millenium's disqualification was due to using up all of their pauses in accordance to the rules of the tournament. However, the reason of their pauses were due to a severe DDoS attack that the team suffered, rendering them unable to play. For this special exception, the community has been up in arms and have wanted the tournament organizers to revoke the disqualification.
