Vulcun officially reborn as XDG.Gaming

In an official post on reddit, general manager Christina "Gnomesayin" Laird has officially announced that Vulcun is no more: XDG.Gaming rises to take its place.

Sticking with the same roster but under new ownership, the organization of Vulcun seems to have decided that things need to change on the management side. Despite being one of North America’s top LCS teams and making it to the World Championships, according to the staff at Vulcun, they have recognized a lack of audience interaction and fandom in the past.

Despite their strong play during the Season 3 Summer NA LCS, taking 3rd overall, Vulcun’s fanbase still pales in comparison to teams such as Team SoloMid or Cloud 9.

Therefore, following a poor performance at the World Championships, where Vulcun did not emerge from the group stage, the organization has decided that a change of name and attitude was required if the team was to be popular with audiences in the upcoming LCS splits. According to Gnomesayin, the name “Vulcun” proved both too difficult for fans to not only spell properly, but also was not easily chantable. Now, following a post on reddit where the fans were asked for their input on the new name, the brand of XDG.Gaming emerged.

Gnomesayin has promised a new attitude along with the new name, saying they are aiming for more “focus…on the fans, on content, on streaming" and to "make sure we're interacting with you guys (the fans) more”.
