Many fan favorites showed up to test their skills in Leaguepedia's Best Lee Sin NA tournament where Xmithie swept Zionspartan in the finals to claim the title. All proceeds went to Child's Play Charity.
After the success of Leaguepedia's
Best Riven NA tournament in May, fans voted that the next contest should pit skilled players together to test their Lee Sin prowess. Well known Lee Sin players from solo queue and the LCS received invites, including nathanielbee, ClakeyD, ZionSpartan, and Voyboy. Winner Megazero and finalist Aniratak from Best Riven NA also returned.
Many favorites to win like Voyboy and nathanielbee lost out early, resulting in a heated loser's bracket. Meanwhile, Megazero was looking unstoppable with the same Teleport-Ignite-Doran's Blade strategy he used to win Best Riven NA, failing to lose any games until Round Four when Dyrus surprised many and knocked him into the loser's bracket. Dyrus, along with Nickwu, also came away with the most good guy karma, agreeing to remakes after Nientonsoh went out of bounds in both series.
FeedOn, who entered via fan vote rather than invitation or the preliminary qualifiers, proved a surprising force. After losing to Dyrus in Round Two, he eliminated big names like Mancloud, Nientonsoh, nathanielbee, and Megazero from the competition. One of the most memorable moments of the tournament was game two between Megazero and FeedOn where Megazero engaged level one and missed his second Sonic Wave; both players burned Exhaust, and FeedOn pressed on for a series victory before minions spawned.
The finals came down to Xmithie, jungler for LCS Team Vulcun, and ZionSpartan, top laner for Team Coast. ZionSpartan had been entertaining through the loser's bracket by getting early executes for a couple auto attacks on the enemy's first tier tower. Expecting Zion to repeat this performance, Xmithie waited just out of vision to use ignite and draw an extremely early First Blood in the second game. In the third game, the players attempted to play around ZionSpartan's strategy, but in the end, though Zion managed to get Xmithie to wait at spawn while he took a couple turret shots, he lost the series without taking a game off Vulcun's jungler.
While Xmithie took the title of Best Lee Sin, Leaguepedia succeeded in raising quite a bit for
Child's Play, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of hospitalized children through video games.
