In between the intense matches of the NA LCS Summer Split at MLG Anaheim, another tournament was taking place. Four amateur teams: Aware Gaming, Curse Academy, FXOpen, and compLexity Gaming, participated to net that 20,000USD prize money, but more importantly, a spot at the Promotion Tournament for next season. On day 1, we saw compLexity take down Aware Gaming 2-0 with slight ease, while on day 2 we witnessed an intense matchup between Curse Academy and FXOpen, with the latter as the victor 2-1.
On the final day, compLexity and FXOpen face off to determine to gets to be one step closer to the NA LCS. CoL started off strong with MegaZero on Kennen and pr0lly on Jayce, slowly sieging their opponents until they broke down the nexus in Game 1. However, this only unleashed the beast in Westrice and RobertxLee, as they stepped up their game and rampaged throughout Game 2. Carrying their momentum, the former Curse Top Laner went even further and went full-on ham with his Rengar, getting kill after kill even under enemy tower. With Lautermortis and his team having no way to stop the Pridestalker and his allies, FXOpen took the series 2-1, and got their ticket at getting to the big show.
