The closest match up of the night up to this point by far was also foreboded to be one of the most anticipated matches due to the staggering performance shown by MeetYourMakers and ALTERNATE in the summer split. The match would determine who would take first place in the European LCS and both teams showcased just how eager they were to maintain or earn that title with one of the most back-to-back games yet.
The game would kick off with ATN finding several kills more than MYM, which came to no surprise from a team primarily consisting of several solo queue superheroes. MeetYourMakers packed a punch in their own style with a heavily objective focused game, however, being up 2 dragons and a kill over ALTERNATE early on in the game. Utilizing the additional map presence as well as similar amounts of gold, MYM would not hesitate to punish ALTERNATE at every turn.
ALTERNATE would not be bullied around forever, however, and got their heads straight themselves, thrusting themselves into a reassessed position of dominance. Creaton, as usual, would become a monster like he's showcased in every other LCS match so far and help assist Forellenlord in doing incomprehensible amounts of damage to the enmy team, retaining their spot as rank one.
SK Gaming vs. Gambit Gaming Drafts
If there was any overwhelming amount of pressure to be placed on a single game, it would be in the final match of the day: SK Gaming vs. Gambit Gaming. Gambit Gaming would hate to lose in front of their live audience at all -- let alone the last place team in the region. Meanwhile, SK Gaming were hard pressed to find a win with Gambit holding the home field advantage, the team having issues in general, and absolutely needing a win to crawl out of their rut.
Luckily for SK Gaming, things were really looking up for the team and they started the game off against the Russian superstars with a 5-1 score despite having some initial issues in lane and Nyph almost dropping several times to the painful arrows of Genja's Varus. Having single-handedly forced a Xin Xhao ban, Diamondprox took his skills to the test on Jarvan, a more standard jungler in the current meta, and was able to make several beautiful things happen, liking saving 3 lives simultaneously with a heroic Cataclysm - Flash.
Even though SK were ahead early, it all went downhill starting with an early dragon fight. When SK were fairly stable, that stability would seemingly drop to the ground over and over...and over. One fight after another Gambit would pull ridiculously ahead in fights, whether it be 3 for 1, 4 for 1, or just flat out aces. Ultimately, the crowd's roar for Gambit and the pressure resting on the shoulders of all of SK proved to be too much for the squad, leaving them deep in the trenches yet again.
