Although the event was only two days, stories were told and over $40,000 was to be won between Brazilian teams and Millenium.  After a rough patch in the European LCS, Millenium had a week off from Riot's ventures and into the hands of ESL's, where they hoped to break their long streak of bad luck.  Millenium wouldn't be the only European team on Brazilian soil shooting for the gold, however.

For the first time ever, we saw oceloteWorld perform on an international stage, replacing Team Dignitas, the original holders of the spot last minute.  According to Ocelote, however, the power of the Brazilian teams may have been more than the rest of the world had anticipated, and certainly caught Ocelote and the rest of his team off guard.

Although Ocelote's team fell 0-2 to arguably the strongest squad in Brazilian League of Legends, this didn't stop Millenium from breaking their curse and managing to blow through the entire competition undefeated, including the team that had befallen Ocelote and his comrades.

Aside from Millenium winning their pride back as well as $15,000 and a spot to the IEM World Championships, a lot was learned. One thing we were able to take from the event is Baron Nashor's overwhelming influence on the game, winning 91% of the games for the team who acquired his buff first, compared to just 60% for first dragon and 66% for first tower.

Despite paiN having four of the five strongest players statistically, their support player Minerva managed to fall short, having a total of 26 deaths over the two day event. While OceloteWorld may not have gotten to the grand finals, his jungler Morden has more than proven himself, scoring the highest KDA of 10 in the tournament despite a 3rd-4th place finish.  Here is an entire list of visualized stats to show all of the data regarding IEM Sao Paulo.

FUN FACTS

  • Kev1n is the only Millenium member with less than 10 deaths.
