Stats corner: What do the Chinese play?

Introduction

The preparations for Season 3 World Championships are brewing over at the GosuGamers camp. In this current issue of stats corner, we look at the draft trends in one of the strongest regions on the globe in China. 84 games from the LPL Summer split have been analyzed to bring you this text.

Most picked

Bear in mind that LPL kept the patch that still had Runic Bulwark and a stronger Blade of the Ruined King much longer than other regions.  Partially for this reason, we see Twitch and Vayne picked as AD carries in just about every game.  Elise wins for the most first picked for her safe laning and jungling matchups against most opponents and overall strong and flexible kit.

Thresh and Nami have been causing terror in the bottom lane as well, resulting into them being heavily picked up due to their utility as well as laning presence.

Most banned and most contested

Hey, look, Twisted Fate is not the most hated champion after five times in a row...

...He is close, however, and typically ranks 'top banned' amongst most other regions.  ?Elise being the top banned champion as well as the most pick is not surprising.  As we explained earlier, she's pretty much got it all as well as several face matchups.  This combined with the mobility that LPL contestants desire so much in their play causes her to rank at the top.

Win rates (for champion picked > 10 times)

The top 10 champions are largely champions that OMG uses for their proxying aggressive gameplay.  Ogoing, as well as other popular Chinese top laners, pull out Renekton for his insane diving capabilities, armor pen, and periodic damage in teamfights.  Kennen is a no brainer due to being not only strong in lane, but being heavily mobile, enabling him to shove and wreak havoc in the enemy jungle for blue side.

While these two champions may not guarantee wins at dragon in a way that heroes like Rumble would, they do provide disruption by starving the enemy of gold.  What's really surprising here is Lulu's astonishingly low win-rate.   Zac, a very popular in safe pick, is also suffering near the bottom of the barrel.
