Zerg wins SWE RaceWars

[s]event[/s]Three nights in a row the three races have battled intensely. One match was extremely close while another one was humiliation. Just moments ago it was clear that the Zerg team won with TreK and JessE as some of the star players!

Terran versus ProtossThe Terran versus Protoss game was an extremely close game, that had to be settled to the last two players. It stood between Sweden DaZe and
Sweden SaFT on Nostalgia. SaFT placed '11 o clock with a dragoon/observer build and DaZe at '5 with a wall-in and dual factory.

DaZe started to push SaFT quite early with Tanks, Vultures, Spider Mines and Turrets, and started an expansion during this. Meanwhile, SaFT expanded on his own natural, and added another gateway and a Citadel of Adun, in order to get some fast Zealots to help the Dragoons break the push.
With this done, SaFT expands a bit more, and so does DaZe, to keep up.

21 minutes in, SaFT has the advantage, constantly attacking and stabbing DaZe's expansions. But thanks to the Terran's economical advantage and Spider Mine usage, the match is settled - DaZe and the Terran team wins with 5-4!

Zerg versus ProtossJessE crushes the Protoss team
Within 1 hour and 40 minutes, the oldschool Zerg player from Skania, Sweden - JessE had crushed all five players from the Protoss team. Some games were close for JessE to lose, but some ended real quick.

swe-rw-02.jpgThe shortest game was the last one that would settle the game - Sweden JessE versus Sweden Gurram on Lost Temple, where JessE made a Lurker Rush with some Zergling support. Gurram lost some Zealots very early, which gave him no chance to defend his ramp - making JessE able to go in with a few Lurkers, killing off the majority of the Protoss' peon line. Gurram surrendered, and the match was done!

Zerg versus TerranJessE keeps his win-spree against Terran
Tonight was the final match in the Swedish RaceWars 2004 - the Zerg against the Terrans in an exciting match that lasted 7 games. Before Sweden JessE, strengthened from yesterday's 5-0 spree came in, the score was 2-2. When JessE was done with the Terran team, he had increased his win-spree to 8-0, and had settled the game for the Zerg, winning the event!

In the last game the superlative Zerg player faced Sweden Chaso in a game on Nostalgia. JessE started with the regular build order once again, Zerglings and teching to Lurkers pretty fast. Chaso at '8 went dual barracks and placed a bunker near his ramp. Some more minutes pass, and JessE has placed three Lurkers outside Chaso's base, who is preparing for an infantry drop. However, it doesn't go that well, since JessE has Hydralisks at the flanks in his base, stopping Chaso from entering. "Chaso was kinda "unlucky" since most zergs expand on nostalgia didnt he scout my main and turned back with his scv when scouted my exp." Sweden JessE says.

Both players expand - JessE at '9 and Chaso at his natural, efter chasing off the Lurkers outside. Just moments later, a big battle evolved in the middle. JessE had misplaced some Lurker eggs that Chaso started shooting at. This however became a trap, and JessE attacked from three different ways, totally destroying Chaso's army consisting of Marines, Medics, Vessels and some Tanks.

This gave JessE a great map control and map advantage, since Chaso was unable to go outside his own base. "The match pretty much ended there even if I killed him with guardiens 5-10 mins later." he ends.

Interview with the Player of the Event - JessEjesse.jpgFirst of all, congratulations to the nice win-spree. Did you expect this when you were chosen by Brejk and KaXe?
  • I havent played the new guys that much, but yea. I didnt get to play kenka, saft or willet who were the only ones i was afraid of no matter how inactive they say they are.
How about yourself? Are you as inactive as people say, or do you still play regularily?
  • I started playing some wgtour about 6 weeks ago but got banned for using two accounts at the same time. Think i played about 50 games at wgtour, but after that only the warmup before the protossgames which was 3 games against reveny and 1 game against zpux.
Was there anyone who impressed you, and who gave you the toughest game?My first game against FrozenArbiter was very tight. I actually thought i pretty much had lost after his first attack which killed one of my two expansions on dhalia.

Luckily i came back, did a cupple of good fights in the middle and won in the end. Since i had never heard of frozenarbiter before i must say i was impressed of his unusual techstyle. Besides from him i think most of the games went pretty much in the way i planned for them.So what will happen next? Is this a kind of 'comeback' from your side, or will you keep playing the same amount that you do?
  • Haha no this is no comeback in more reasons then perhaps i dont flamed every time i enter some tournament or nationalteam game.
There were alot of comments on me not being good enough for the zergteam when the list came up at gamingeye which probably was one of the reasons for me wanting to win this badly.
Well, you sure showed them with your 8-0 record! Thanks for the interview!
