New map pack

[s]maps[/s]Tsize>he map maker Sweden Martin "20kr" Alfredsson has made a map pack, containing a few remakes of already existing maps, and some new ones. I asked him to pick four of the maps he liked best and describe them in his own words.



(4)Ragnarok

(4)Ragnarok_-X-T-ob.jpg"I have made some small balance changes between the mains and put in some extra space around the exps. I also moved the cliff exps closer to the center of the map, made an extra entrance to the exps in the middle, and added some more open ground in the center of the map just to avoid defensive play.
Just like all my other maps the critters are illusions (they can be very annoying on the mini-map).

(4)SAferZaFaRi_-X-T-ob.jpg"A symmetric map like all the others but with one little odd thing. There is a difference in length between the horizontal and vertical mains. I wanted to add the "rush action" you can get with two players starting kl 12 and 3 on lost temple, so if both start horizontal it will be much shorter distance between the mains then if the players start diagonaly or verticaly. Some players like it and some dont, but i prefer some variation depending on start position.
The map only has 6 exps so you will have to guard them well and keep a good eye on your finances.

(4)Volcano_-X-T-ob.jpg"Pretty basic map, cliff mains with chokes in each corner, 2 exps just outside the mains. Four ways lead to the middle where all the fights most often take place. Four cliff exps with gas (kl 3, 6, 9 and 12).
The map is similar to River of Flames but got some new layout and four cliff exps instead of two.

(2)Twilight Bridge

(2)Twilight_Bridge_-X-T-ob.jpg"I wanted to try something new, and i have never made an island map before. The only problem is that i dont like islands, so the easiest way to work that out the way i wanted was to add bridges. I added 3 bridges in a row to get the half island half land feeling. Dont know if i like the final result but it looks pretty wierd and thats good i guess... In the end i made an extra entrences to the mains to avoid defensive play. Its hard to say if the map is balanced or not, i have tried it out with some mates and it worked pretty good. But if you lose both bridges you will have a hard time getting them back, so guard them well or you will have to drop out units like in any other island map."



The map pack - containing these four and 29 more, plus images of them all - is 6.5 MB big, so modem users may want to get a cup of coffee and a newspaper while waiting...
