World Series of Poker kicks off today

The largest and most famous tournament series in the world kicks off Tuesday at the Rio Casino in Las, Vegas. The 2011 World Series of Poker will feature 58 different events of all types of poker games and buy-ins. The six week series will culminate with the $10,000 buy-in Main Event July 7th to 19th. Once again, the Main Event Final Table (November Nine) will be played in November.

Tuesday play begins at noon with Event #1 - Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em Tournament. Buy-in is $500.

At 5 p.m. begins Event #2, the prestigious #25k buy-in Heads-up No-Limit Hold'em Championship.

A new feature, the classic WSOP Main Event rematches will be played on Thursday.

1) 2003 WSOP Main Event: Chris Moneymaker vs. Sammy Farha – Best 2-out-of-3 format.

2) 1989 WSOP Main Event: Johnny Chan vs. Phil Hellmuth – One match.

3) 1988 WSOP Main Event: Johnny Chan vs. Eric Seidel

All the rematches will be televised by ESPN on July 26th.
