Berglund becomes youngest WPT winner ever at Barcelona

The 18 year-old Swede Lukas Berglund became the youngest in WPT history ever after taking down the WPT Spanish Championship. In a most impressive display, Berglund personally eliminated all seven final tablists to take the victory and €206,000 first prize.

Berglund needed considerable luck at the start to avoid elimination as the first player out at the final table. Berglund, Ristole and Koren all decided that their hand was good enough for an all-in pre-flop. Berlund had 7's, Ristola had Q's, while Koren had big slick A,K. The board ran out 7,5,10,J,3, tripling up the young Swede and eliminating his two opponents.

After the triple up, he didn't look back and cruised to the win. Heads up play with Romain Matteoli lasted just 15 hands. Berglund pockets €206,000 and a seat at the WPT Grand Final in Vegas in May 2012.

There were 216 entrants for the main event WPT Spanish Championships at the Gran Casino, Barcelona.

Next tournament on the WPT Season 10 takes place after the WSOP and starts out 5 September in Paris, France.
