Ever wonder how hospitable the Collector Leviathan's home is?
It’s been a couple of weeks since Subnautica 2’s explosive launch, and it seems like after sharing the game's roadmap earlier on, and selling over 4 million copies, the game is ready to tease what’s coming next in Early Access.
Developer Unknown Worlds shared these in a Dev Vlog on Friday (5 June) called “Swimming Forward,” outlining a mix of bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and quality-of-life additions driven directly by player feedback.

What is included in the latest Subnautica 2 update?
According to Design Lead Anthony Gallegos, the team has spent the game's opening days addressing some of the community's most immediate concerns. The first hotfixes have focused on stability improvements, resource availability and creature behaviour, including fixes for crashes, additional Silver and Troilite deposits, and adjustments to predator attack frequency and damage.
"We're making changes because of you," Gallegos said, noting that the studio is continuing to work on performance improvements alongside bug fixes. Players running the game on Epic settings should also notice better performance following recent updates.
Beyond technical fixes, several gameplay systems are being expanded. The Biomods system is set to receive new passive slot unlocks, allowing players to equip multiple passive upgrades, while additional Biomod options are being introduced earlier in the progression curve.
Other upcoming improvements include changes to wreck gameplay, clearer Blight encounters through more noticeable parasite aggression, and a new voic-over priority system designed to ensure players hear the most important information first. The team is also adding the ability to replay PDA voice logs, giving players an easier way to revisit story details and discoveries they may have missed.
Multiplayer players have also been heard loud and clear. Gallegos confirmed that emotes are currently in development, alongside one of the community's most requested social features: proximity voice chat.
"We've heard the outcry for months, and we're working hard to get that in as soon as possible," he said.
Additional player character customisation options are also on the way as the studio continues to build out the cooperative experience.
Subnautica 2 will add the home of the Collector Leviathan as a new region
While the near-term updates focus on polishing the current experience, Unknown Worlds also offered a glimpse at what players can expect from the game's next major content drop.
The upcoming update will introduce a brand-new region described as the home of the Collector Leviathan. Alongside new creatures, resources, progression systems and story content, the area will also feature a new chassis that appears to revive a highly requested gameplay feature.
"Our next region, the home of the Collector Leviathan, will add a new chassis that brings back one of the most requested player experiences," Gallegos said. "So, get ready to get stompy."
The studio's current goal is to allow existing players to access the new content without starting over, instead letting them continue their adventure from their current save files.
Gallegos also hinted that the new biome may lean further into the survival horror side of Subnautica 2, saying: “I really think it's going to be the scariest the game has been yet, and I can't wait for you to try it.”
