Bloodborne is getting a movie adaptation.
This week’s CinemaCon 2026 trade show saw a bevy of announcements from Sony Pictures, as the movie distributor showed off its slate of movies planned for release later this year and beyond. One of its announcements was not like the others, however: Sony confirmed that an R-rated animated adaptation of Bloodborne is officially in the works.

Is Bloodborne getting a movie adaptation?
Sony Pictures is officially expanding its slate of game adaptations with an all-new Bloodborne movie. The movie is said to be “true” to the original 2015 game developed by FromSoftware, which has often been referred to as one of the best games of all time despite lacking a modern port, remake, or sequel, to this day.
The Bloodborne movie will be an R-rated movie adaptation, which should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with the grisly nature of the original game. The movie will also be produced by YouTuber and content creator Jacksepticeye, AKA Seán William "Jack" McLoughlin, who is known for uploading full-length playthroughs of video games on YouTube. Lyrical Animation will also produce, with its parent company Lyrical Media said to be co-financing the film with Sony Pictures.
Via a Reddit post, Jacksepticeye also confirmed his involvement in the movie with the following statement:
“Hey guys, I’m Jacksepticeye and as just announced at Cinemacon, Sony Pictures is officially making an animated Bloodborne feature film. I am producing this project and you have no idea how incredibly excited I am to finally be able to talk about it!! I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it. I can’t share much about the project right now but man does it feel good to let you all know it’s happening!”
What is Bloodborne about?
Bloodborne (2015) takes place in the Gothic city of Yharnam, wherein players embark on a journey as Hunters looking for the source of a city-wide plague that has turned its inhabitants into monsters. The player's quest will see them fell unimaginable horrors scattered throughout Yharnam, while occasionally returning to a spectral realm called the Hunter's Dream.
The Bloodborne movie does not have a release date yet, suggesting that the project is still in early development at Sony Pictures. The movie represents another game adaptation under Sony’s belt, as it is already ramping up to the release of a live-action Legend of Zelda movie in 2027, and a Resident Evil movie in 2026.
