A 17-year Halo veteran breaks silence on what’s happening behind the scenes.
Serious allegations have surfaced around the studio behind one of gaming’s biggest franchises, as a long-time developer tied to Halo Infinite publicly called out internal practices at Halo Studios.
On 4 April (SGT), Glenn Israel, art director on Halo Infinite and a developer with 17 years of experience on the Halo franchise, shared a series of statements via LinkedIn, alleging misconduct involving senior staff. Both posts, published on his profile and feed, outline claims of harassment, retaliation, and failures in internal investigations.

Why did Glenn Israel accuse Halo Studios leadership of “unethical and/or unlawful acts”?
Referencing Washington state law, Israel stated: “Under the Revised Code of Washington Title 49, Chapter 44, Section 211, I allege the following,” before detailing incidents he claims took place between January 2024 and November 2025.
According to the post, he “witnessed firsthand or was personally subjected to numerous unethical and/or unlawful acts committed by senior Halo Studios representatives”, including blacklisting, fraud, and what he described as “rampant favouritism/cronyism” affecting hiring and career progression.
He further alleged that harassment campaigns were carried out with the intent of forcing employees out, describing them as efforts designed to provoke constructive dismissal of staff “otherwise in good standing”.
Allegations against Halo Studios
Israel stated that after filing documented complaints with Microsoft’s Human Resources in June 2025, he was met with resistance rather than support. He claims that a senior Global Employee Relations (GER) representative “threatened retaliation on first contact” and indicated that further investigation would be shut down.
He also described a “four-day-long act of harassment” in July 2025, which he alleges was intended to create grounds for termination. Despite visibility from internal oversight groups, including Business Conduct and Compliance and Workplace Investigation teams, he claims no action was taken during or after the incident.
Additional claims state that complaints escalated to internal teams were reported as “closed”, despite allegedly being returned as out of scope.
Was there retaliation tied to Halo projects?
Israel pointed to developments in August 2025 involving “catastrophic mismanagement of Halo Campaign Evolved”, which he claims led to his art team being reassigned away from an unannounced project. He alleged that his role was then falsely labelled as redundant, describing the move as retaliatory.
He added that in September 2025, a GER director initially promised an investigation into the retaliation but later “disallowed any consideration” of the original complaints and subsequent events.
Between June and October 2025, Israel claims that internal teams failed to carry out even basic investigative steps, including interviewing key witnesses named in his reports.
Glenn Israel warns prospective staff about Halo Studios and Microsoft
Beyond documented incidents, Israel stated that he “strongly suspect[s]” broader systemic issues within Microsoft. These include claims that layoffs may be used to remove employees who file complaints, masking retaliation under business justifications, and that internal HR structures are deliberately compartmentalised to obscure accountability.
He concluded with a warning directed at current and prospective employees, stating that he could not recommend working at the organisation and asserting that “your effort and expertise are not respected” and that employees are not fairly compensated.
At the time of writing, no official public response from Microsoft or Halo Studios addressing these specific allegations has been issued.
