God of War Trilogy Remake announced, Kratos' original voice actor to return

The God of War trilogy is making its grand return.

God of War franchise developer Santa Monica Studio has officially revealed upcoming remakes of the entire God of War trilogy. The entire original series of God of War games, which sees Kratos take on the Greek pantheon of gods and various monsters from tales of Greek mythology, is described as a singular “project” by Santa Monica, signalling that the games might be bundled together upon release.

God of War Trilogy Remake is in the works, Kratos’ original voice actor to return

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise, and Santa Monica Studio is celebrating the occasion with a massive announcement: remakes of the entire original God of War trilogy are now in the works. That means God of War (2005), God of War II (2007), and God of War III (2010) are getting refurbished for modern platforms, with the former two titles finally being released from the shackles of their longtime PlayStation 2 exclusivity.

Santa Monica Studio is also bringing back Kratos’ original voice actor, T.C. Carson, to ostensibly provide new voicework for the upcoming remake project. Carson made his enthusiasm for the comeback clear in the remake's reveal trailer, though he noted that the project is still currently early in development, and thus far from a release.

Carson originally played the role of Kratos in the God of War prequel trilogy and spin-offs, before Christopher Judge took over in Norse-era duology.

Santa Monica Studio also simultaneously announced and launched a new Greek-era God of War prequel game today, once again starring T.C. Carson as Kratos: God of War Sons of Sparta.
