The biggest announcements at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast

Plenty of remakes and a couple of promising indie titles took the spotlight during the showcase.

The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast share a lot of major announcements from Xbox Game Studios and publishing partners across Asia and beyond. 

From highly anticipated sequels to surprise launches, the showcase laid out what players can expect across console, PC, and cloud over the coming year and into 2026.

Here are all the announcements made during the Xbox TGS broadcast: 

Forza Horizon 6 Takes the Series to Japan

The biggest announcement of the night was the confirmation of Forza Horizon 6.  The next entry in the award-winning racing franchise will launch in 2026, shifting the action to Japan.

Ninja Gaiden 4 brings scalable challenge to players

Team Ninja and PlatinumGames offered a deep dive into Ninja Gaiden 4, which launches on 21 October. The latest entry in the legendary action series promises brutal, high-speed combat alongside fresh systems designed to broaden accessibility. Dynamic enemy placement and scalable AI difficulty aim to test veterans, while a new Hero Mode and adjustable assists allow newcomers to experience the action without compromising the series’ trademark challenge. 

For the first time, a standalone training mode will also help players refine their skills before entering battle.

Age of Mythology’s expansion, Heavenly Spear is coming this 30 September

Strategy fans were treated to a new look at Age of Mythology: Retold’s upcoming expansion, Heavenly Spear. Releasing on 30 September, the add-on shifts the mythological action to Japan, introducing a 12-mission campaign centred on Yasuko, a farmer’s daughter who discovers a mystical spear. Her fight against Kagemasa, a ruthless warlord seeking to imprison the sun goddess Amaterasu, brings new gods, monsters, and powers to the classic RTS series.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 reveals two Japan-inspired multiplayer maps

Two Japanese multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 were also showcased at the Xbox TGS broadcast. 

Toshin transports players to a futuristic Tokyo, complete with a karaoke bar, cat café and crashed train as set pieces, while Den takes place in the countryside, centred on a repurposed castle. The game is scheduled to launch on 14 November, with an Early Access Beta opening on 2 October and a wider Open Beta following on 5 October.

007 First Light confirms Gemma Chan in cast

IO Interactive confirmed that British actress Gemma Chan will join the cast of 007 First Light as Selina Tan, MI6’s Head of Tactical Simulation. The game follows a young James Bond in a reimagined origin story, blending espionage and tactical training in a fresh take on the iconic spy’s early career.

Aniimo shows off new creatures

Highly anticipated creature-catching ARPG Aniimo introduced more of its wildlife in a new trailer. Players were given a closer look at how different creatures interact with each other and their environments, opening up unique opportunities for discovery and gameplay.

Double Dragon Revive details Extra Mode

Double Dragon Revive gave fans a deeper look into its Extra Mode, a mission-based challenge offering over 50 scenarios to test player skills. Completing missions unlocks character-specific episodes with fresh story perspectives. The game launches on 23 October with local and online co-op support.

Dragon Quest I & II HD Remake explores the Ocean floor

Square Enix revealed a brand-new underwater area for the Dragon Quest I & II 2D-HD Remake. Known as the Ocean Floor, this region introduces the town of Mersea, new monsters, and a storyline involving the mysterious fate of a mermaid settlement. The remake arrives on 30 October.

FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly remake Arrives 2026

The horror classic FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly is being remade with updated visuals and audio. Director Makoto Shibata confirmed enhancements to the Camera Obscura and new action mechanics, promising to heighten the chilling atmosphere when the game releases in early 2026.

Gungrave Gore: Blood Heat highlighted a remake of the cult classic

The cult action series returned with Gungrave Gore: Blood Heat, which is a remake of its 2022 game. The game is rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. The reveal showcased explosive dual-gun shootouts, brutal close combat, redesigned enemies, and a stylish action system to elevate the intensity of battle. 

Hitman adds Bruce Lee-themed mission

Hitman: World of Assassination introduced a martial arts tournament mission set in Bangkok’s Himmapan Hotel. The limited-time content features martial arts legend Bruce Lee, as Agent 47 works undercover in a high-stakes competition. The mission is available from 25 September until 20 November.

Mistfall Hunter reveals new map

A new trailer for Mistfall Hunter showcased Solemn Needles, the game’s second confirmed map. The location blends bleached forests, ancient relics, and mythic ruins, setting the stage for more dangerous hunts when the game arrives.

Project EVILBANE highlights four-player combat

Project EVILBANE showed off its fast-paced, co-operative action in a new trailer. Designed as a four-player action RPG, the game features intense boss battles, skill customisation, and a storyline built around humanity’s fight against a world-ending threat.

Rhythm Doctor slated for December

Indie rhythm game Rhythm Doctor will launch on 6 December. Known for its one-button gameplay and distinctive audiovisual design, the title also includes a robust toolset that allows players to create and share their own tracks.

Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven released

Square Enix surprise-released Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven during the showcase. The remake features new mechanics, fresh battle systems, and the signature freeform scenario system, all now available on Xbox.

Starsand Island shows first CG trailer

Starsand Island revealed its first cinematic trailer, offering a look at its cosy farming, DIY building mechanics, and tranquil island life. The footage ended with a tease of upcoming multiplayer elements.

Terminull Brigade teases Evangelion crossover

Fans got a look at Terminull Brigade’s latest trailer, confirming the roguelike’s expansion to new platforms and teasing a crossover with the iconic Neon Genesis Evangelion series.

Winter Burrow will launch in November

Closing out the indie line-up, Winter Burrow received a release date of 12 November. The story-driven survival adventure follows a city mouse returning to the countryside, blending whimsical storytelling with crafting, cooking, and exploration.

Several of the showcased titles will be available on Xbox Game Pass, including Forza Horizon 6, Winter Burrow, and Terminull Brigade. Most titles also support Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling progress to carry across console, PC, and cloud. The ROG Xbox Ally handheld, launching on 16 October, will further expand portable play options.
