Pokémon Legends: Z-A unveils ranked multiplayer mode Z-A Battle Club

Take on other players in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s new multiplayer mode.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is officially getting a ranked battle mode. In this week’s Pokémon World Championships closing ceremony, The Pokémon Company unveiled the Z-A Battle Club, a new mode that will allow up to four players to compete against one another in Link Battles.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus may have lacked multiplayer battling support at launch, but its successor Pokémon Legends: Z-A is looking to fix that. Up to four players can compete in the game’s multiplayer battle mode: the Z-A Battle Club. In this mode, players will have to compete in Link Battles to defeat as many Pokémon as they can within a three-minute time limit.

If that sounds daunting, here’s some good news: players will have full access to a variety of moves and Mega Evolutions, so they can go all out. Much like the main game, multiplayer battles will roll out in real time, with Trainers positioned at different points of the map. Each defeated Pokémon will award the Trainer with a point.

Trainers can also run around and collect Mega Power orbs during battles to Mega Evolve their Pokémon. They’ll also be able to find items to boost their team’s stats. The Z-A Battle Club can be accessed through online or local communication, on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Ranked Battles are also available, allowing players to rise up the ranks depending on the number of points they earn in Z-A Battle Club matches. As the title implies, they’ll begin at Rank Z, and move up to Rank A over time. Private Battles are also available.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches on 16 October, 2025.
