Stardew Valley has portals too, you know.
The farming life sim game Stardew Valley is officially Steam’s hightest-rated game of all time, according to Steam250. The website, which uses its own algorithm to rank Steam games by order of popularity and ratings, was recently updated to reveal that Portal 2 had been dethroned as Steam’s highest-rated video game.
According to the website, Steam’s top five highest-rated games are now Stardew Valley, Portal 2, Terraria, People Playground, and Left 4 Dead 2.
Stardew Valley beats Portal 2 to become Steam’s highest-rated game
Stardew Valley has officially risen to the top of ranking website Steam250’s highest-rated video games on the Steam platform. The farming life simulator game recently dethroned Portal 2 to take the top spot on the list, albeit by a very thin margin. Stardew Valley has a score of 8.87, while Portal 2 has a score of 8.85, which means that a mere 0.02 point difference led to Portal 2’s dethroning.
If you’re curious about the rest of the games on the list, Terraria comes in third place with a score of 8.82. The games below Terraria are separated by a 0.01 point difference; People Playground has a score of 8.81, Left 4 Dead 2 has a score of 8.80, Vampire Survivors has a score of 8.79, and Hades has a score of 8.78.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 (8.78), Schedule I (8.77), and Portal (8.77) make up the rest of the top 10 highest-rated games on Steam. However, readers might notice that a few of these games have the same points, despite occupying different positions on the list. Portal 2 is also rated higher on the actual Steam platform compared to Stardew Valley, as of right now.
This is because Steam250 calculates its highest-rated games based on its own algorithm. According to the website, “the algorithm takes two inputs: the number of votes and the approval rating (percentage of positive votes) and assigns a score.” Hence, it’s worth noting that Stardew Valley has only been rated higher than Portal 2 due to the sheer volume of its reviews (899,986 votes) as opposed to Portal 2 (436,665 votes).
ConcernedApe, the developer of Stardew Valley, is currently developing another cosy chocolate-making game called Haunted Chocolatier.
