MultiVersus will officially come to an end with Season 5.
Developer Player First Games is taking MultiVersus offline for good. The crossover platform fighting game will end with its fifth season of content on 30 May, 2025, after which it will be available offline “for the foreseeable future.” Season 5 will add the game’s final two playable characters: DC Comics’ Aquaman and Looney Tunes’ Lola Bunny.
MultiVersus will go offline this May
MultiVersus Season 5 begins on 4 February, 2025, and will serve as the game’s final seasonal content update. The season will run through May 30, 2025, adding new playable characters Aquaman and Lola Bunny, who will be “earnable through gameplay.” After May 30 however, all of the game’s online features will become unavailable.
Fortunately, players who have spent real-world money on MultiVersus will still be able to access most of their content in offline mode. The game will still feature solo against AI gameplay, and local multiplayer. As of right now, microtransactions are no longer available in-game, so you won’t be able to purchase any Gleamium to unlock additional characters.
The developer stated:
Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.
MultiVersus will be pulled from Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store this May. You’ll have to download the game before then to be able to reinstall it after 30 May. MultiVersus follows in the footsteps of another failed Warner Bros. Games-backed live-service title: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
However, the publisher is still moving ahead with a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.
